In his day, this aged celebrity, now basking in retirement, had the judges (and the female foxhounds, many of whom he knew … intimately), swooning at the sight of him. Now weary of autograph seekers and those pesky selfie-photographers, he prefers to hang out incognito, as you see.
He was perhaps as strikingly handsome an American foxhound as this reporter has ever seen, and he passed his genes on to generations of grand champion foxhounds—both male and female—to follow.
Potomac Jefferson 2005 was the MFHA Centennial Grand Champion Foxhound at both the 2007 Virginia Foxhound Show and the Bryn Mawr Hound Show one week later. The year, 2007, marked the one hundredth anniversary of the founding of the Masters of Foxhounds Association. Jefferson was bred, entered, and shown by then huntsman Larry Pitts. Today, Jefferson’s genes are to be found in American and Crossbred foxhounds from one end of North America to the other. Jefferson lives with Larry in retirement.
